EuroCIS
About This Event
EuroCIS is Europe's leading trade fair for retail technology, organised by Messe Dusseldorf as the dedicated technology pillar of the EuroShop trade-fair family. It is where the companies that build the technology behind physical retail, from point-of-sale and self-checkout to payment terminals and electronic shelf labels, show their latest systems to retailers from across Europe and beyond. Alongside EuroShop, it anchors Dusseldorf's position as a centre of gravity for the global retail-technology calendar.
EuroCIS normally runs as a standalone annual fair; in 2026 it ran as an integrated part of EuroShop, the once-every-three-years flagship, and it returns to its own dates in February 2027.
What happens at EuroCIS
- Exhibition floor: Europe's largest retail-technology show floor, with exhibitors from more than 35 countries presenting POS systems, self-checkout, payment-acceptance hardware, electronic shelf labels, and AI-driven retail tools.
- Stage and forum programme: a hands-on content programme of keynotes, use-case sessions, and live demonstrations on the technologies reshaping the store.
- The payments and POS cluster: major payment-acceptance and POS vendors exhibit here, including Verifone, Ingenico, Diebold Nixdorf, Payone, and GLORY, making it a key European meeting point for in-store payment technology.
- Innovation areas: dedicated spaces for emerging retail-tech providers alongside the established names.
Who attends
The audience is concentrated in retail technology and operations: IT, digital, and store-operations leadership from retailers, grocers, and hospitality brands, payment and POS decision-makers, loss-prevention and store-design teams, and the dense vendor ecosystem that supplies them. Visitors come from more than 90 countries, with a high proportion from outside Germany. EuroCIS is not a banking or fintech conference and not a consumer event, it is the in-store technology and payment-acceptance trade fair for European retail, and it sits naturally beside merchant-side payments events such as Merchant Payments Ecosystem in Berlin.
Dominant themes at EuroCIS
- Self-checkout and frictionless checkout, including computer-vision product recognition.
- Payment acceptance and POS terminals, from unattended kiosks to softPOS and card acceptance.
- Electronic shelf labels (ESL) and digital shelf-edge displays.
- AI across retail operations, from supply-chain decisioning to employee assistants.
- Loss prevention and store security under rising shrink pressure.
- Omnichannel and unified commerce connecting store, online, and fulfilment.
- Sustainability and the ESPR ecodesign rules reshaping retail technology.
Planning to attend
EuroCIS is held at the Messe Dusseldorf fairgrounds, a short ride from Dusseldorf Airport (DUS) and well connected by rail. Dusseldorf hotels fill quickly around the fair, so booking early matters, especially in any year the show shares the calendar with the larger EuroShop. Retail-technology delegates building a wider European trip often pair it with NRF Retail's Big Show Europe in Paris.
