Money Motion
About This Event
Money Motion is the principal annual fintech conference of Croatia and the Adriatic region, hosted in Zagreb and bringing together the Croatian and wider Balkan banking, payments and fintech ecosystem. It sits alongside Fintech X, European Digital Finance Conference and Finticipate as calendar anchors for the same audiences.
What happens
A focused multi-day programme combines plenary sessions on the major shifts in Croatian and European fintech with parallel tracks on payments infrastructure, digital banking, regulation and emerging technologies. Demo and pitch slots give Croatian and regional fintech startups stage time alongside established banks and payment companies. The exhibition is compact and focused on payment infrastructure, core banking, KYC and identity, and fraud-prevention tools serving the Croatian and Adriatic markets. Networking is structured around themed receptions and a strong informal community contribution from the Zagreb fintech ecosystem.
Who attends
The audience is concentrated in the Croatian and broader Adriatic financial services ecosystem: senior product and strategy roles at Croatian banks, executives from regional payment companies and processors, founders of Croatian and Western Balkan fintech startups, and representatives from the Croatian National Bank and Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency (HANFA). International visitors come from neighbouring CEE and Adriatic markets — Slovenia, Bosnia, Serbia, Hungary, Austria — and from global vendors active across the region.
Dominant themes
Croatia's recent euro adoption and its continuing implications for payment infrastructure feature in the agenda alongside the practical realities of SEPA Instant Payments implementation and the EU Instant Payments Regulation. ISO 20022 migration, PSD3 implementation preparation, open-banking adoption, the modernisation of card-payment infrastructure, and fraud-prevention strategies under European frameworks each receive dedicated coverage. Cross-border CEE and Adriatic payments, the role of stablecoins in regional B2B settlement, and AI applications in credit, fraud and customer service round out the programme.
Planning to attend
Zagreb is well-connected by air to most European hubs with cost-competitive hotel pricing and a compact, walkable central district. The event language is mixed Croatian and English with simultaneous interpretation typically available for main sessions. International visitors should target English-language tracks and reserve language-mixed networking time for translation support. Croatia's combination of EU and eurozone membership and lower operating cost has made Zagreb an increasingly common location for fintech satellite offices; many attendees combine the trip with adjacent commercial meetings in the city. On the regional calendar, Technobank in Belgrade gathers the Western Balkans banking-technology community each spring, and UNCHAIN Festival in Oradea anchors CEE fintech in June.
