Riyadh has become one of the most consequential fintech conference destinations in the world, and it happened fast. Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 programme has poured resources into financial-sector transformation, the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) has built out instant payments and open banking, and the global payments industry has responded by bringing its flagship Middle East events to the Saudi capital. If you sell into the Gulf, Riyadh is no longer optional.
The city is spread out, modern, and built around the car—but it’s also rapidly adding infrastructure, including a brand-new metro. Here’s how to navigate it for a conference.
Key Fintech Events in Riyadh
Money20/20 Middle East — September 14–16, 2026 | Riyadh Exhibition & Convention Center, Malham The Middle East edition of the global Money20/20 franchise and the central fintech gathering for the GCC and wider MENA region. Expect SAMA and regional regulators, Gulf banking leadership, and global payments players evaluating the Saudi opportunity, across payments rails, open banking, Islamic finance, and digital assets.
Seamless Saudi Arabia — November 17–18, 2026 | Riyadh Front Exhibition & Conference Center The Saudi edition of the Seamless franchise, covering payments, fintech, retail, and e-commerce, with heavy local bank, PSP, and government participation aligned to Vision 2030.
Riyadh also hosts a growing roster of banking, regtech, and digital-economy events through the cooler season. For the regional flagship in Dubai each September, see Seamless Middle East.
Getting There
King Khalid International Airport (RUH) sits about 35 km north of central Riyadh. It’s a large, modern hub with direct connections across the Gulf, Europe, Asia, and a growing list of long-haul routes as Saudi Arabia expands its aviation footprint.
From the airport to the city and venues:
- To the northern exhibition corridor (Malham, Riyadh Front): the major venues are on the northern side of the city, closer to the airport than downtown—often 20–30 minutes.
- To central Riyadh (Olaya, King Fahd Road, downtown): 30–45 minutes by car.
Use Uber or Careem (the dominant local ride-hailing app) from the airport, or licensed airport taxis. Ride-hailing is reliable, metered through the app, and the easiest option for visitors.
Getting Around
Ride-hailing (Uber and Careem) is the default for visitors. Riyadh is built for cars, distances are long, and ride-hailing is affordable and convenient. Download Careem before you arrive—it’s the local leader and sometimes has better availability than Uber.
Riyadh Metro: The city’s new driverless metro network opened recently and is steadily becoming a viable way to move along major corridors, including parts of the business and exhibition axis. Check whether a line serves your hotel-to-venue route; where it does, it bypasses the city’s notable traffic.
Driving: Plentiful but not recommended for short visits—traffic and parking around major venues during events are challenging. Let a driver handle it.
Allow buffer time around peak hours and around prayer times, when some services briefly pause.
Where to Stay
Northern corridor (near the exhibition venues) If your event is at Malham (Money20/20) or Riyadh Front (Seamless), a hotel on the northern airport corridor minimises your daily commute and your airport transfer. This is the efficient choice for venue-focused trips.
Olaya & King Fahd Road (central business district) Riyadh’s main business and hotel district, dense with international chains (Four Seasons in Kingdom Centre, Hyatt, Marriott, and more) and the best concentration of restaurants and malls. A solid base if you also have downtown meetings, though it’s a longer run to the northern venues.
Diplomatic Quarter (DQ) area Quieter and greener, favoured for certain institutional meetings. Less convenient for the big exhibition halls.
For a multi-day exhibition, prioritise proximity to the venue over downtown buzz—Riyadh’s distances make the commute the deciding factor.
Essential Tips for Riyadh Conferences
- Sort your visa early. The eVisa is straightforward for eligible nationalities, but don’t leave it to the last minute. Confirm your eligibility on the official portal.
- Mind the work week. The Saudi weekend is Friday–Saturday. Schedule meetings Sunday through Thursday.
- Dress modestly and formally. Business formal for the conference; modest dress in public. Women are generally not required to wear an abaya in business settings, but err toward conservative.
- Plan around the heat and prayer times. Outside October–February it is very hot. Some shops and services pause briefly at prayer times—build a little slack into your schedule.
- Get a local eSIM. STC, Mobily, and Zain all offer cheap visitor data. You’ll want it for Careem and maps.
After Hours & Networking Spots
Riyadh’s social scene is non-alcoholic but increasingly vibrant, centred on high-end restaurants, specialty coffee, and hotel dining. The Olaya district and the dining destinations around Kingdom Centre and the newer lifestyle developments are where business dinners happen. Saudi business culture places real weight on hospitality and relationship-building, so expect networking to revolve around long dinners and coffee rather than bars. Much of the genuine deal-making at the big shows happens at invitation dinners and government-hosted side events—worth angling for an invitation in the run-up.

- Electricity: 230V, plug types G (UK-style) and others—bring a universal adapter.
