Hong Kong FinTech Week
About This Event
Hong Kong FinTech Week is the principal fintech event of Hong Kong and one of the largest in the Asia-Pacific calendar, hosted by InvestHK and bringing together the global fintech ecosystem around Hong Kong's position as Asia's international financial centre.
What happens at Hong Kong FinTech Week
A multi-day programme combines main-stage keynotes with parallel tracks across payments, wealth management, virtual assets, regulation, capital markets and emerging technology. A substantial exhibition floor combines global vendors expanding into APAC with regional and local players from Hong Kong, mainland China, Singapore and the wider region. Cross-border programming explicitly addresses connectivity between Hong Kong and mainland China through the Greater Bay Area and broader cross-boundary initiatives. Side events, awards programmes and policy briefings extend the week beyond the main conference. The scale — 45,000+ attendees across the week — makes it one of the three biggest fintech gatherings globally alongside Money20/20 USA and Singapore FinTech Festival.
Who attends
The audience reflects Hong Kong's role as a regional financial hub: senior leadership from Hong Kong-headquartered and regional banks, asset managers and family offices, founders and operating teams from Hong Kong and mainland fintechs, regulators from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and Insurance Authority, and a heavy international investor and corporate contingent. The Greater Bay Area dimension brings substantial mainland Chinese fintech representation alongside the Hong Kong audience. Hong Kong FinTech Week is not a startup-pitch event in the traditional sense and is not a consumer-payments trade show — it is the strategic forum for Asia-Pacific institutional fintech and virtual-asset policy.
Dominant themes at Hong Kong FinTech Week 2026
The Hong Kong agenda emphasises Greater Bay Area cross-boundary fintech, the rapidly evolving regulatory environment for virtual assets and stablecoins under SFC and HKMA frameworks, wealth management and the role of Hong Kong in serving the family-office market across Asia, cross-border payment innovation including connectivity with mainland China systems, the rollout of central bank digital currency initiatives including the e-HKD pilot and broader CBDC research, and AI applications across financial services. Open banking adoption in Hong Kong and adjacent markets and the practical evolution of capital markets technology each receive coverage.
Planning to attend
Hong Kong is well-connected internationally and hotel supply is plentiful, though pricing is high. The MTR provides excellent venue transit. Visa requirements vary by nationality; check policies in advance. The conference language is English with significant Cantonese and Mandarin representation. The Asian fintech autumn-winter calendar is unusually dense and most delegates string multiple events into a single Asia swing — Singapore FinTech Festival runs two weeks later in early November, and Money20/20 Asia in Bangkok runs in the spring as the next major APAC anchor — so International visitors often combine the trip with adjacent commercial meetings in Shenzhen, Singapore or Bangkok given regional decision-maker density. The Hong Kong autumn weather is among the best windows for outdoor side events.
