Money20/20 ASIA
About This Event
Money20/20 Asia is the Asian extension of the global Money20/20 franchise, hosted in Bangkok and acting as the central trade event for the Asia-Pacific payments, fintech and digital-finance ecosystem. It sits alongside PAY360, FinTech Meetup and Balkan Ecommerce Summit as calendar anchors for the same audiences.
What happens
Three days of multi-stage programming cover payments infrastructure, consumer fintech, regulation, crypto and emerging technology with a deliberate APAC lens. The expo hall combines global vendors expanding into Asia with regional and local players from Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Hong Kong and increasingly India and Australia. Country-pavilion booths from APAC fintech associations are a notable feature, giving attendees a structured way to scan regional ecosystems they don't already cover. Pitch competitions, partner showcases and a substantial side-event programme extend the day around the main stages.
Who attends
The audience profile differs from the US and European editions in important ways: a higher proportion of central bankers and regulators (Bank of Thailand, MAS, Bank Indonesia, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas), more representation from APAC super-apps and wallet operators (GrabPay, GoPay, OVO, KakaoPay), strong presence from cross-border payments players targeting intra-Asia flows, and a steady international contingent from US and European companies evaluating APAC expansion. The fintech operator audience skews toward business-development and partnership roles rather than purely product, reflecting the partner-driven nature of APAC payments market entry.
Dominant themes
Cross-border real-time payments dominates the agenda - particularly the rapidly growing network of QR payment interoperability between Thailand's PromptPay, Singapore's PayNow, Malaysia's DuitNow, Indonesia's QRIS and Vietnam's VietQR. UPI's international expansion is a perennial topic alongside the increasing role of stablecoins in intra-Asia B2B settlement. Super-app strategy, embedded finance within commerce platforms, digital wallets and the trajectory of Central Bank Digital Currencies across the region each have dedicated sessions. The 2026 edition continues the heavy focus on generative AI in financial services and the regulatory frameworks taking shape in Singapore and Hong Kong.
Planning to attend
Bangkok is an excellent host city for the event - central, well-connected by air, hotel supply is plentiful and cost-competitive, and the BTS Skytrain links most conference hotels to the venue quickly. Visa requirements vary widely across attending nationalities; check policies well in advance. The event language is English. APAC delegates typically combine the trip with adjacent commercial meetings in Singapore or other regional hubs, given the time and cost of long-haul travel for many international attendees.
Elsewhere in Asia-Pacific, Hong Kong FinTech Week anchors the November calendar.
