If you want the events that genuinely move fintech and payments forward, this is the list. Beyond the handful of mega-conferences everyone already knows, a whole tier of independent and organiser-led events does the real work of the industry: the regional gatherings, the specialist summits, and the community-built festivals where partnerships actually start.

There is no shortage of fintech events on the calendar. We track more than 80 of them at PayTech.Events, across every region and every month of the year, and our full guide to the events that matter in 2026 covers the marquee names. But here we wanted to recognise the independents specifically: the events run by teams who care about their niche rather than their share price.

This is our curated honour roll of the 34 best independent fintech, payments and banking events of 2026. Whether you build payment infrastructure, run a bank’s digital strategy, or invest in the next wave of fintech, these are the rooms worth being in. Congratulations to every event on the list.

1. FinCon - Palm Springs, USA

The definitive event for the financial-content and creator economy. FinCon is where personal-finance creators, fintech brands, and the media that covers them meet, and it has quietly become one of the most influential gatherings for how financial products get explained to real people. If your growth depends on creators and content, no other event concentrates that audience as tightly.

2. Paris Blockchain Week - Paris, France

Europe’s flagship for digital assets, tokenisation, and the on-chain side of payments. Paris Blockchain Week, run by Chain of Events, brings together founders, institutional players, and regulators at the moment European crypto-asset rules are reshaping the market. It has become the continent’s natural meeting point for everyone serious about the intersection of blockchain and finance.

3. Merchant Payments Ecosystem (MPE) - Berlin, Germany

The definitive European event for the merchant side of payments. MPE is where acquirers, payment orchestration platforms, PSPs, and large merchants work through the economics of accepting payments at scale: interchange, routing, orchestration, and fraud. Run by Empiria Group, it is the one specialist event the acquiring world protects on its calendar.

4. WORLDEF - Istanbul, Dubai and beyond

One of the fastest-growing cross-border e-commerce and fintech franchises in the EMEA region. A genuinely independent organiser building a serious international footprint.

5. DC Fintech Week - Washington, USA

The fintech event that sits closest to policy. 6. EBAday - Copenhagen, Denmark

The Euro Banking Association’s flagship for transaction banking and payments, produced with Finextra. The most operationally specific payments content in Europe.

7. The Fintechzone Shows - Budapest, Hungary

PAYTECHSHOW, BankTechShow, FintechShow, and TechShow X make Fintechzone the engine of the Hungarian and wider CEE payments calendar. Each show gives a focused, single-day programme to a specific slice of the ecosystem, and together they anchor the region’s fintech community.
